Fri, Feb. 15th, 2008, 08:29 am Goodbye
I haven't updated this in quite a while and there is a very good reason why. I had used this journal predominantly in college and now that I've graduated, I don't feel it fits my life the same way it used to. Fact of the matter is, this journal represents a really difficult time in my life and I have since gotten past it and am in a really good place. I've never been one to post my dirty laundry in a public forum because I've never liked not having a direct one-on-one conversation about the things that really bother me. I know that those people who care about me keep in touch with me in more direct ways. My point is that while this worked well for a forum of fun stupid things three years ago, there is no point in updating it now when I feel that my blog is a much more fitting place for posting my random observations about the world. This doesn't mean I won't be keeping in touch with everyone. In fact, I do keep updated links on my current blog and people are more than welcome to drop me a line there or on aim, but this is my official "Goodbye, LJ" post. If you're looking for me, visit me on either bruchplatter.blogspot.com or www.freewebs.com/sharonhesper. I hope everyone is doing well!

Ok, so there is a third chapter to Merrianna...which you may remember as that mock-romance-novel I started way back when and never ever updated. Well, this time I will be updating. http://brunchplatter.blogspot.comAnd no, it is NOT internet porn.
just blogging elsewhere. It's not personal. I still check in and read up on you guys. I promise. Oh, but not in a stalker way, more in a "hey, what is _____ up to? I miss them. If I were less anti-social, I would totally drop him/her a line. Instead, I will hide behind my computer screen and read about them from afar." http://brunchplatter.blogspot.comCheck it out. I'm also posting my writing online so that I can get real feedback on real writing. Not that this isn't real writing, but you know what I mean. In anycase, I'll be reading and possibly posting a hey now and then.
Sun, Aug. 6th, 2006, 01:50 pm Done and Done.
Well, it's been a while since I've updated this. I've been shying away from it since I'm too tired for drama.
So, update, brief as it will be:
I'm still working at the theater and I love it. The people are fun and nice and not as crazy as they had been in other places I've worked at.
Aside from that, my brother, sister, and I all switched cars so I now have the Civic, Erin has the CRV, and Neal has the Accord. We don't buy new, we trade...within ourselves.
I have to run because we're going to the Mets game tonight (it'll be on ESPN so watch for me...or something).
I'd say I'll post again soon, but no promises. We'll see how this goes.
Ok, so first of all, I HAVE A JOB! I work for the Community Theater (www.communitytheatrenj.org) as the Group Sales and Education Coordinator. It's actually a lot of fun. I'm in charge of group sales (obviously) but I also do a lot of work with school and organizing field trips and such. AND there's a performing arts school that's part of the theater so I get to help out with that, organize it, and generally be around kids and theater all day. Yayness! As for other things going on, not a lot. I was in a car accident on Friday as I was on my way to Erin's graduation. I wasn't hurt and made it JUST in time to see her graduate so all is well, except that the asshole who hit my car claims it was my fault (he was moving into my lane and hit ME thankyouverymuch). So long story short, I was ahead of him, he moved into my lane and scraped up along the side of my car. I lose. So...what else...oh! Erin is running for Miss Sparta, so you should all root for her, even though I keep wondering HOW we are related. I mean, seriously, if any of you can actually see me running in a beauty contest AT ALL let alone one specifically for Sparta, let me know. I can only picture a Carrie-esque ending. And, just to end on a continuous drama related note, I'm adding a few more dates and times to my list from a previous entry that you can find (complete with ridiculous comments) here: http://perlinluckdragn.livejournal.com/14278.html?view=24774#t2477406/19/2006 06:52:35 PM 06/21/2006 09:02:13 PM I get the point, Jenn. Enough already. Fri, Jun. 2nd, 2006, 11:49 am HAIRCUT!!!
Ok, so my hair was reaching far past the bra strap line and it was time...soooooo....I went to the salon and basically gave the girl free range to do whatever she wanted. Not sure how I feel about it yet, so feel free to give opinions. Oh, also I look pissed because my camera wasn't working with me at all.

Jenn,
Stop trying to hide the fact that you check my livejournal or myspace. I can see your IP address every time you do it. I am going to post every time you check so that you are aware that I am aware. You're not being stealthy; you're being creepy.

Ok, here are the top 10 things that make me happy right now: 1. My new silver wipe board complete with thin black marker. Perfect for making wash-away lists. 2. I have a full tank of gas and won't have to fill up for an entire tank's worth of driving. 3. I have second interviews with the places I really want to be working for. 4. I think I know what I'm getting my mom for Mother's Day. 5. I'm making some really good progress with some projects that I can actually send to publishers. 6. My dog has stopped getting sick and is instead curled up on my lap as I type this. 7. Maple Story. It makes me infectiously happy. 8. My laundry is done and I have all clean clothes. 9. I have beat the system and have found a pair of jeans that do not rub on the ground behind my foot, ripping my jeans to an early grave. 10. Panic! At the Disco. They make me very happy for having not only talent, but also intelligent lyrics that mean something. Aaaaaaand, because I am a brat, I will now tag people to fill this out. Hee. It forces you to appreciate little things so it's not like I'm asking you to fill out a thing where you tell everyone whether or not you have a crush and if so, would you like to have sex with that crush and bla bla bla about the last person you kissed or the color that reminds you of stupid people. Ok, Liza, Mel F., Laurie, Jeanette, and Nicole. Go and be happy!
So, overall I'm a fairly chill person. For the most part, I'm friendly and socialable. I'm very protective of my friends and I can definately make my mind up (negatively) about a person based on a friend's experience. I'm stubborn as hell and I hate being wrong, even though I am a lot of the time. I'm also overly emotional and completely illogical about the most mundane things. But enough of my flaws. Instead, let's talk about YOURS, world. Having been an English major, and now trying to make a living as a professional writer, I have a few basic problems with general use of grammar. I'm not really a grammar freak in that I constantly go around correcting everyone, nor do I have a favorite grammatical rule. I do however have a major pet peeve that has been pushed to the extreme lately. Allow me to jump in and give you an example: *CUTE PICTURE HERE* Caption: Liza and I WRONG! So very wrong in fact that every time I see it, I growl a little bit knowing that some of the people who are making the mistake are making it so that they can be overly-correct. It's like they're trying to be pretentious and instead, pretention dicks them over. Really, it's the best little mistake ever, especially since you all know how I feel about pretention. It also bothers me that some of these people got through 4 years of high school English and went on to major in English at college and are making the mistake. So, just so that we're all on the same page here, when referring to a person and yourself, you do not say "I" if, when you take out the other person, the correct way of referring to yourself would be, "me." Going back to the example above, if I took out Liza, I wouldn't have a picture of "I." It would be a picture of me. Therefore, the picture is of Liza and me. Yes, there are times when saying "I" is correct, but only when followed by a verb and a phrase. We could get into it, but I'm sure most of you have stopped reading by now. Ok, I'm done. And I promise I'm not actually going insane.
Sun, Apr. 2nd, 2006, 05:36 pm Update, yo
And on another note, thanks to everyone for the condolences for Chrono. Much appreciated. As well as the confirmation that it is not ridiculous to cry over a fish.
Mon, Mar. 27th, 2006, 10:44 pm This week...
is going to be awesome! Actually, the next two weeks should be pretty much the best ever. Ok, so tomorrow, I'm picking Erin up after school and then we're heading down to VA to visit Neal, see him in a play, and be stupid siblings together. And by stupid, I mean we'll probably be bad influences on Erin and see what she's like drunk. And then it is James' unofficial birthday celebration. And then Liza is coming up, which means an official birthday celebration and uber trio good times. Why is it that everything super exciting happens all at once and isn't all spread out so that I can feel as though life in general is exciting? Oh, and attention city people: I have to go to the Hospital for Special Surgery on April 4th for my wrist. I should be done by like 1:45 or so. If you want to meet up and do something (food, fun, what have you) let me know! I'm also in an uber good mood because I just got a CHUNK of my play written and it's stuff that I think is really funny and some great material. I may post a snippet later next week or so. And, of course, opinions are welcome. :-) Oh, and I should inform you that Chrono, the beta fish of wonder, died this weekend. I was really upset because he looked so sad just hanging out by his plant, so I buried him up by the monument in a shoebox of gravel with his plant. I hope the plant made him happy and that he had a good fluttery swimming life. In order to bury him, I had to turn off the house alarm to go outside at about 2am, which woke up my parents. The conversation with my dad went something like this: Dad: What were you doing last night? Me: Chrono died. Dad: Oh, Sharon, I'm really sorry. Are you okay? Me: Yeah, I'm just sad. Dad: Who is Chrono again? This, my friends, is the stuff that made Neil Simon famous. And I don't even have to make this stuff up.

So, I was thinking about nail polish today, as I took off my red polish to put on either blue or purple (jury's still deciding...maybe by the end of this post it'll be figured out). Who was the first person to decide that it would be a good idea to paint one's nails? I mean, it just seems like one of the most random beauty applications ever. Most of the others have their uses: eyeliner: makes eyes look larger eyeshadow: enhances eye color mascara: makes lashes fuller, giving an overall softer look lip liner: enhances lips' lines as well as keeps lipstick lasting longer lipstick: makes lips fuller, shiner, more appealing lip gloss: finishes the "lip effect" and keeps lipstick lasting longer blush: enhances cheek bones, gives skin a healthy glow foundation: a good base for makeup to keep in on where it should stay, hides blemishes and flaws powder: absorbes shine and holds makeup in place all day long What is the point of nail polish? It doesn't enhance natural nail beauty; it doesn't make nails appear longer. Is it really just a color-coordinating ritual that allows your physical to match your outerwear? Because if so, who thought of it? I may have to look up the history of nail polish later because now, looking at my nails, the only reason I can really think of to paint them (aside from the obvious fashion statements) is to cover up stress marks in the nails or hide dirt under the nails. Both of which are rather stupid ideas. In other news that has nothing to do with my makeup contemplation, I am IN LOVE with the New York City Ballet's workout dvd. It is so calming yet hardcore at the same time and it relies on dance to use a bunch of different muscle groups at once so you feel like you're really targeting your body in a really great way. I highly recommend it to anyone who's lazy and wants to watch a couple of really toned bodies (two male, two female) dance around while you improve your own body. It's good times. Ok, now for the update. I'm writing a play right now that I hope to be finished by the beginning of summer (at least the first draft) and I'm working on a couple of other projects that I'm very excited about. If I feel they need, I may post some of it on here so you all can give me feedback. Or something. It's the beginning of birthday season (for some reason, most people I know are born in spring and summer with very few stragglers in the fall...) and my dad's bday was good- we got him a charcoal bbq like the one he used to have when we were kids. Next up is James' bday and Liza is coming up that weekend so we will have awesome trio time (and perhaps a Scranton trip...? Must call and make plans...) and do all kinds of stupid silly things. Because that's who we are. And I'm so excited that she's coming up because I haven't seen her since New Year's and it's weird not seeing her practically every day. Even though it hasn't been like that in almost a year--it's still weird. In any case, I'm excited for bdays this year because I'm on a gift streak that is, if I do say so myself, quite perfect. My wrist is healing nicely (or so I think) and I'm able to do more and more with it. I may be so brave as to pick up the guitar later this week. We'll see how things go. AAAAAAAAND, I'm going to VA to visit Neal and see him in a play (for the first time since he was in "The Boyfriend" in high school) next week. Erin and I are taking a road trip, which should be interesting in and of itself. That's pretty much it. I hope everyone is doing well!

Mon, Mar. 13th, 2006, 11:50 am
Moving right along from that last insane post, not much is doing right about now. The most excitement is that the weather is warm and I can wear cute clothes that have been hiding out in the back of my closet for months now. I'm really excited about spring and I know I say this about every season, but I just feel so warm and happy when it starts to get warm out. Also, I've been working out every day and really putting effort into being healthy, so I feel better about myself even though the wrist is still broken. I'm sure I'll write a real up date sometime soon, but in the meantime, here is the most accurate quiz I've ever taken.
So, true story. I'm picking up a prescription at the local drug store and I see a movie poster out of the corner of my eye. Being the pop culture freak that I am, I see the general layout and mentally note that my pharmacist has a poster of The Breakfast Club hanging up by the register. Oh how wrong I was. Yet, despite the mistake, this is by fat the BEST discovery I have made in my entire life, to date. I mean, c'mon, I am so familiar with the Brat Pack that I actually said to myself, "Huh, I don't remember Judd Nelson holding a chainsaw," which is what prompted me to look at it dead on. Thus, I AM AWESOME for recognizing this...even though I'm sure it was done on purpose. In which case, I suppose that the PR people for the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 should also be commended, even though no one really even knew the movie existed.
